Yin Yoga



Blend restorative, gentle yoga with breathwork and meditation to bring the body into balance and reduce stress. The counterpose to the “yang” of modern life.

Yin Yoga consists primarily of sitting or lying postures that aim to promote deep relaxation, enhance circulation, increase joint mobilization, clear energetic blockages, and heal the body. This full body, gentle yoga practice will guide you through a series of poses that are held longer than in a traditional yoga class. Physically, Yin enhances the natural range of motion around joints allowing you the ability to release deep layers of connective tissue. Energetically, Yin enhances the flow of prana (life force) in the tissues around the joints, where energy often stagnates. Sequences are often geared toward strengthening certain energy channels which ultimately support the organs, immune system, and emotional well-being. Relax into stillness and find length throughout your body.

What you’re working

What to expect
Expect to hold poses for up to five minutes. We’ll use blankets and other props in mainly seated or lying poses to assist in relieving tension. Yin can make other styles of yoga seem easier and help you achieve a certain amount of comfort in seated meditation. Take this class to improve flexibility, release stress, and calm the nervous system after a hard workout or a hectic day.

What to wear
Bare feet or socks and warm, comfortable clothing that you can easily move in.
