Power Yoga

A vigorous, fitness-based approach to Vinyasa yoga that emphasizes strength, flexibility, detoxification, balance, and stamina. Each class consists of challenging sequences of athletic movements performed with focus and intention.

This class is often referred to as a more athletic, Western style of yoga. Though many consider it to be “gym yoga,” this style of practice was originally modeled on the Ashtanga method. However unlike Ashtanga, Power Yoga does not follow a set series of poses, so classes can vary widely depending on your coach. Challenge yourself with jumps, arm balances, and inversions.

What you’re working

What to expect
Expect to feel the burn in Power Yoga. This class moves quickly, and is more physical than philosophical. Delivered at a more intermediate to advanced pace, some basic knowledge of yoga poses is recommended. There is no set sequence in Power Yoga, but your coach will move you through a full body workout. Expect to leave feeling sweaty, sore, humbled, and better than when you walked in. If your goal is to reduce muscle aches and pains or relax, try Vinyasa or Honey Flow instead.

What to wear
Bare feet and comfortable, tight clothing that you can easily move in.
